WINTER WEDDINGS

I love Winter weddings.  As a videographer they can be very challenging in terms of light (or lack of it!) but for me there is something extra special about them.

If you are planning a Winter wedding then there are a few things to consider that could help your day along.

If you can, plan to have your ceremony and reception all in the one venue to save valuable time by eliminating any travel time or having to deal with bad road conditions between venues.  Opt for an earlier ceremony to allow precious time for photos/video before the sun goes down.  You could even consider adding a ‘first look’ into your wedding day schedule which would take place before the ceremony to allow some couple portraits at this point in the day.  Quite a few of my couples have opted for this recently and it can feel really special and quite emotional (in a good way!).

Consider layering up a little (capes, faux fur stole, chic shrug, cool leather jacket, embroidered denim jacket) and you could also ask a member of your bridal party to carry some hand warmers to heat up icy hands before/after your wedding photos/video session.

With just a few small considerations it is quite simple to have a magical winter wedding.  Take a look at Holly and Jono’s wedding at Larchfield Estate in Ireland where i think they managed to perfectly capture the beauty and splendour of a winter wedding. Enjoy!
